He assembled a team of strong lawyers who will deal with compensation for moral and material damage to Chechens who suffered from Russian aggression in the temporarily occupied territory of the Chechen Republic, in Ukrainian courts. This will be done by seizing the property of citizens of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. On August 18, a regular meeting was held at the office of the General Representation of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Ukraine. The meeting was attended by: Head of the Cabinet of Ministers and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria Akhmed Zakayev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Ukraine Akhmad Alviyev, Honorary Consul of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Ukraine Yuriy Shulipa and Head of the Project “Legal Forces of Ukraine”, lawyer, PhD in Law, Natalia Tselovalnichenko.
Issues of legal protection of citizens of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria who suffered from Russian aggression and occupation in the temporarily occupied territory of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in law enforcement agencies and in the courts of Ukraine, and aspects of the legal personality of the General Representation of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in Ukraine were discussed. The participants of the meeting agreed that in the current socio-political conditions, the best way to compensate for the damage and harm caused to the citizens of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, who intend to protect their rights in Ukrainian jurisdiction, thereby restore justice and at the same time punish the representatives of the aggressor country , is the imposition of penalties on the property of citizens of the aggressor country in Ukrainian courts in favor of the injured citizens of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.
There are all necessary legal grounds for this. After Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, in April 2022, the Supreme Court of Ukraine, by its decision, removed from the aggressor country the international immunity of private law on the property of its citizens and residents, thereby significantly simplifying the task of imposing a penalty on the property of Russians in Ukraine.
