These simple requirements have not been met in Tatarstan for 25 years, and now we wonder why they don’t want to teach Tatar.
There is one thing we Tatars won’t understand. There is a material side of life – this is making money and a career, and a spiritual side – this is our language. Until our language is actually connected with making money and a career, that is, it becomes the state language in real life, and not on paper, it will never be studied not only by Russians, but even by Tatars.
The spiritual side of life, that is, language is a cart, and material life is a horse. Even the most perfect cart does not pull a horse, but the horse pulls the cart. As they say, being determines consciousness. So, you need to start with the horse. We started from the cart, from the school. Why have a cart if there is no horse? Why go to school if knowledge of the language is not required anywhere?
Lenin once said: “Land to the peasants!”, and they supported the Bolsheviks. That is, he connected the age-old dream of the peasants, that is, their spirituality, with matter, the earth, that is, with real wealth. A simple dialectic that Lenin knew well.
If in Tatarstan they tell the population that from now on making money and a career will depend not only on knowledge of the Russian language, but also on knowledge of the Tatar language, then, no matter what, even Russians will study the Tatar language. Because everyone wants to eat.
