Today I had the honour to represent Ukraine in the European Parliament. An event was held in Brussels within the framework of EURONEST, which is a platform for the partnership of Ukraine and our neighbours with the European Union. He spoke during the discussion of the upcoming report of the Political Committee “The future of the Eastern Partnership after the Russian war against Ukraine. A new regional dimension of security, internal and external challenges and opportunities.”
He thanked colleagues from the European Parliament for supporting the further integration of Ukraine, Moldova, and in the future, Georgia into the EU. He emphasized that we still need help to solve the key problem – Russia’s war. Because we are fighting not only for ourselves but also for the security space to extend as far as possible beyond the East. For this, we must not forget that Russia occupied not only part of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova but also completely controls the government of Belarus. It destroyed the independence of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and subjected the residents of Tatarstan, Idel Urals, Ingushetia and other non-Russian and Russian regions to double political and ethnic pressure.
It would also be good to analyze how the EU’s partnership policy can attract non-governmental structures and representatives of these and other occupied nations. It is very important for us and our colleagues from Moldova and Georgia to understand after the war how we can secure our borders and the external borders of the future EU. Only those who fight for the future can defeat those who fight for the past. We continue to work on making support for Ukraine a priority for the whole world.
