A FINNISH volunteer fighter died on Monday in Ukraine.
This was confirmed by Ilta-Sanom Raakel Tasanen, a volunteer who helps Finnish fighters, who received the information from the commander of the Finnish group. Relatives of the deceased reported the death.
The deceased fighter travelled with Tasanen to Ukraine in December. The man from Eastern Finland was 21 years old. According to Tasanen, the young man was mortally wounded during the shelling of the plane near Bakhmut.
A MAN WITH THE BATTLE NAME “Samson” served in the Bravo Company of the International Legion, where there are also several Finnish volunteers. His Brazilian teammate also died during the attack.
— Samson was a small, positive guy with a sense of humour who had been thinking of going to Ukraine since the beginning of the war and kept in touch with me almost every day when the end of his military service was approaching, — says Tasanen.
– He decided to go as soon as the service ended, and literally a couple of days later we were on the road.
Another Finnish volunteer “Nemo” describes Samson with the words “small man, big heart”.
“Samson became a really open and positive feeling,” he says.
CURRENTLY, it is known that during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, three Finnish fighters died. 23-year-old Kasper Algoniemi crashed in June in the Zaporizhzhia region. In October, a middle-aged fighter from Eastern Finland died in the Donetsk region.
Several dozen Finnish volunteers participated in the defence of Ukraine.
Eternal memory and gratitude of the Ukrainian people to them…
