A resident of Grodno was detained for having a tattoo with the slogan “Slaves are not allowed into heaven. Freedom or death.” The video of the detainee was published by the pro-government channel “Kniga GU “Baza”.
As the authors of the channel write, the Grodno resident was detained “according to a report from vigilant citizens.” The detained guy says that he is going to remove the tattoo shortly.
The slogan “Slaves are not allowed to heaven” is attributed to the Ukrainian commander Ivan Sirko, who lived in the 17th century. The Belarusian authorities have not yet recognized it as “extremist.”
The slogan “Freedom or Death” has been used at different times in history. It was minted on French coins of 1792, used by Armenian partisan detachments at the end of the 19th century, these words are in the anthem of Romania.
