“The return to Belarus for a Belarusian serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine or a Belarusian volunteer will inevitably lead to imprisonment and torture”

The Vilna Belarus Foundation appealed to the Ukrainian authorities with a request to assist citizens of Belarus in acquiring legal status.

Belarusians fighting in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and engaged in volunteer activities in Ukraine have great difficulties with their legal status.

This is stated in the appeal of the charitable foundation “Vilna Bilorus” to the government of Ukraine.

— Tens of thousands of Belarusian citizens now live in the territory of Ukraine. Hundreds of them serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, hundreds are engaged in volunteer activities. The appeal states that some expressed a desire to acquire Ukrainian citizenship, but encountered difficulties they could not overcome.
