Yesterday, 7 September, the Museum of the Liberation Struggle named after Stepan Bandera in London was visited by Alex Dimov – a representative of Bulgarian patriotic circles, an active volunteer of the “Azov” regiment.
He expressed a desire to visit the museum to convey to Bulgarian society the truth about the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people in the 20th century, in particular, about the activities of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the Anti-Bolshevik Block of Nations.
It is no secret to anyone that to this day a significant part of the Bulgarian population is in the grip of historical and worldview myths created by Russian propaganda during many years of undivided domination in the Bulgarian information space. Therefore, today the topics of decommunization and decolonization, as well as the struggle against Russian imperialism, are vitally important not only for Ukraine but also for Bulgaria.
During the tour of the museum and the currently being created Archive of the OUN, an interesting conversation started. They also mentioned the ancient contacts between the Bulgarian and Ukrainian nations. Mr. Alex showed excellent knowledge of the history of Mykhailo Drahomanov and the first ambassador of Bulgaria to the Ukrainian People’s Republic, Ivan Shishmanov. They also talked about Vasyl Filonovich’s activities in Bulgaria, the Ukrainian community headed by him, and the Ukrainian Cultural Association in Bulgaria, which operated under the auspices of the OUN.
They also mentioned facts from the activities of ABN in previous years, when Bulgarian representatives participated in many conferences of this international structure, and the topic of Bulgaria’s liberation from Soviet influence was constantly heard on the pages of the ABN Correspondence newsletter.
By the way, the Bulgarian patriot was very interested in the topic of the ABN, which was revived at the initiative of the OUN a year ago, as the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations and the prospects of creating the London Bureau of the ABN. It was agreed to continue such contacts in the future and to use the weekly actions of the Euromaidan-London public organization (representatives of which were also at the meeting) to find new contacts with representatives of nations enslaved by Russia.
“Moscovia delenda est” – this paraphrase from ancient history should become the slogan of our time.
At the end of the meeting, the Bulgarian friend was presented with books on current topics: a collection of documents by Prof. Volodymyr Kosyk’s The Third Reich and the Ukrainian Question/ Documents 1934-1944 and The Real Face of Russia – about the nature of Moscow imperialism and the need to disintegrate the Evil Empire.
