Anti-imperial Block of Nations

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs recalled the anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, by which Nazi Germany and the USSR divided spheres of influence in 1939, as a relevant history lesson for the modern world.

As reported by “European Truth”, he wrote about this on X.

Rinkėvičs recalled that on 23 August 1939, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany concluded the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, which divided Europe into spheres of influence.

“9 days later, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, World War II began, and soon the Baltic countries were occupied. A history lesson that is relevant for the modern world,” he added.

The Latvian president’s tweet came amid heightened discussions about a potential peaceful resolution to Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, including potential territorial concessions by Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insists that the peace process must first cease fire, and then, as part of the final settlement, hold discussions regarding the contact line.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States will not pressure Ukraine to cede its territories to Russia as part of a peace agreement.
