Czech counterintelligence reported that the intelligence services of the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania have exposed a spy network that Belarus was creating in Europe.
The Czech intelligence agency, also known as BIS, reported that a group of European agents had discovered Belarusian KGB spies in several countries on the continent. According to BIS, among them was a former deputy head of Moldovan intelligence who was passing secret information to the KGB.
The Czech Republic also exposed a Belarusian agent who was acting under the cover of a diplomat. According to the Czech Foreign Ministry, the exposed person was given 72 hours to leave the country.
The BIS noted that Lukashenko’s Belarus has managed to create a network because its diplomats can move freely throughout Europe.
“To successfully counter these hostile actions in Europe, we need to restrict the movement of accredited diplomats from Russia and Belarus within the Schengen area,” said BIS Head Michal Koudelka.
BIS has not yet provided more detailed information.
In turn, the Romanian Agency for Combating Organized Crime (DIICOT) reported the execution of an arrest warrant for a 47-year-old suspect on charges of treason.
The suspect previously held senior positions in the Moldovan Security and Intelligence Service. The suspect allegedly disclosed state secrets to Belarusian intelligence officers, which likely “endangered national security,” DIICOT said.
DIICOT added that the suspect met twice with Belarusian spies in Budapest, Hungary, between 2024 and 2025, and that there are “reasonable suspicions” that the meetings involved receiving instructions and exchanging payments for services rendered.
The ongoing international investigation is being overseen by the European Union’s judicial cooperation agency, Eurojust.
- The Kremlin is using nuns at a monastery in Estonia to spread pro-Russian propaganda as part of its hybrid war in Europe.
- Argentina’s State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE) has exposed a foreign influence operation carried out by a group of Russians living in the country, in collaboration with Argentine citizens.
We remind you: Belarus is actually annexed by Russia, governed by it with the help of the Kremlin puppet Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed “president” of Belarus.
