Czech law enforcement officers have detained a fourth suspect in the arson of a weapons factory, the national police report. On 20 March, a fire broke out in an arms factory in the city of Pardubice, and a group protesting about cooperation with Israel claimed responsibility. According to its statements, the factory allegedly produced weapons for Israel. The company denies this. Drones were produced at the factory for Ukraine, and the Kremlin may be behind the arson, the Mlada Fronta Dnes newspaper reported, citing sources. Strengthening the Czech Republic’s defence potential, as well as its external and internal security, is a top priority, said Martin Kupka, leader of the Civic Democratic Party.
“Many people believed that all these conflicts were far from us. It turns out that the risk is much greater. Our response must match the challenges. The fact that this year’s budget has allocated less money for intelligence services, in particular for the Security and Information Service, is a serious mistake against the backdrop of these events. And we are ready to help the government change this current course and strengthen assistance and support for intelligence services, because it is in such situations that intelligence information is the key to solving the problem and, above all, the key to the security of Czech citizens,” said Martin Kupka, leader of the Civic Democratic Party of the Czech Republic.
Lithuania is already preparing for new security measures. The country’s Defence Ministry plans to create 50 countermobility sites to protect its borders with Belarus and the Kaliningrad region of Russia. Last year, the government ordered the installation of the very first line, that is, to block border posts, block roads leading from Belarus, dig anti-tank ditches and install wire fences.
“We are currently considering the need to allocate 150 m of land along the state border… Last year, there was a very clear unification of our defense plans, NATO’s defense plans and the defense line. When they were united, accordingly, the plans for creating obstacles and maneuvers were also united,” said Tomas Godliauskas, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Lithuania.
Estonian State Secretary Kate Kazemets has submitted a bill for approval that expands the possibilities for monitoring and stopping the activities of unmanned aerial vehicles in peacetime. At a press conference with his Estonian counterpart, he announced a new drone agreement between Warsaw and Tallinn.
“The Polish Armaments Group and Estonian companies have signed cooperation agreements, in particular in the field of developing unmanned aerial vehicles and means of countering them. Estonia is a leader in new technologies, the IT industry, implementation and experience in this area, so we want to take advantage of this,” said Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The Polish Ministry of the Interior has decided to extend temporary border control on the border with Germany and Lithuania for another six months, until 1 October. Thus, Warsaw is fighting Lukashenko and Putin’s plans to destabilise the EU through the influx of illegal migrants.
“According to the Border Guard, from the beginning of 2025 to July, Germany returned 314 foreigners to Poland, which corresponds to the level of previous years… The route through Lithuania also became a new challenge, where the number of detained migrants in 2025 has already tripled compared to last year. Among them, citizens of African countries predominate,” writes Rzeczpospolita.
