Today, Nizhnekamsk was attacked by a UAV.
We want to tell the residents of Tatarstan the most important thing: Moscow, under the pretext of the so-called “SVO,” has brought war not only to Ukraine, but now to Tatarstan as well.
Until 22 February, 2022, Ukrainians, like everyone else in the world, were making plans for the summer, the next month, the week, the day. But Russia launched a full-scale war, and the plans of millions of people were ruined in a single day. Russia confronted them with the fact of war.
Today, many are asking, “Why civilians? Why people?” But when war is on, it doesn’t choose where or when it manifests itself. War always means the destruction of human lives, fear, death, and the destruction of a peaceful future. Putin and his partners are ensuring that this war comes to Tatarstan.
Ask yourself a simple question: whose lives have become safer or better since the start of the so-called “SVO”? What prospects have the residents of Tatarstan received? What are they now facing every day?
Moscow’s cover—the idea of the so-called “SVO,” supposedly necessary to prevent NATO from attacking Russia—has ultimately only fuelled the war and brought it into every home in Tatarstan. Instead of a future, thousands of deaths; instead of freedom, increased repression; instead of security, an ever-increasing military threat; instead of economic stability, inflation and economic decline—these are the consequences of this imperial war by Russia today.
But apparently this is just the beginning.
Moscow is doing everything it can to bring a full-scale war to Russian territory, including Tatarstan. Moscow promised security—and delivered war.
Who is responsible? First and foremost, the Russian leadership, led by Vladimir Putin, who decided on a full-scale invasion of Ukraine and continues this criminal war.
But the collaborationist authorities of Tatarstan also bear direct responsibility. Having entered this criminal war against sovereign Ukraine and supported it early, creating the Alga and Timer battalions, they are now unable to provide their citizens with even basic protection—air defence, sirens, and bomb shelters. They support the Kremlin’s war, providing human and economic resources for it, and then attempt to portray themselves as defenders of the people of Tatarstan.
At the same time, those who support this war and justify it daily must understand: the war they support is also coming to the territory of Tatarstan.
Don’t close your eyes and ears. You need to hear and see your enemies face to face. This includes Moscow, the Kremlin, the collaborationist leadership of Tatarstan, and everyone who supports the so-called “SVO.”
Don’t delude yourself. Know the real culprits of what’s happening and don’t fall for the propaganda. Understanding who brought this war to you is also strength. The future of Tatarstan should not be determined by the Moscow Kremlin and its proxies.
The Independence Committee of Tatarstan expresses its condolences to the families of the deceased and injured.
We believe that the Russian leadership, which brought about this war, and the leadership of Tatarstan, which supported it and is unable to ensure the safety of the republic’s residents, bear responsibility for what is happening.
The war Moscow started in Ukraine is now drawing ever closer to Tatarstan. Peace and security in Tatarstan are impossible without ending this criminal, aggressive war and without the right of the people of Tatarstan to independently determine their future.
Sincerely, the Independence Committee of Tatarstan
