Activist of the Free Yakutia Foundation Raisa Zubareva reported (https://smarturl.click/pxkb) that a criminal case had been initiated against her. She did not specify under what article the proceedings were started but spoke about the interrogations of relatives. The security forces ask them about her childhood, school, husband and children.
“They even interrogated my biological father, whom I first met when I was a 30-year-old. What can I say to this? I will not change my position. Russia is not my country, not my homeland. My homeland is the Republic of Sakha. I love it with all my heart. I was born there and lived there for exactly 40 years of my life. I left everything I own there. And I will return there after Putin’s fascist regime falls in Russia. So we will still fight,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
The Free Yakutia Foundation was included in the register of “foreign agents” in June 2023. The Russian Ministry of Justice stated that the association is involved in the dissemination of materials from “foreign agents” and “unreliable information about the decisions of the Russian authorities.”
Activists of the association are located outside of Russia; in particular, Zubareva who lives in Poland. Representatives of “Free Yakutia” advocate for the independence of the region and help residents of the republic who oppose the war in Ukraine.
At the end of last year, Raisa Zubareva successfully completed her studies at the University of Free Nations (UFN), a joint project of the OUN and ABN.
