Anti-imperial Block of Nations

In just two days, September 29-30, 1941, the Nazis shot almost 34,000 Kyiv Jews here. During the two years of German occupation, Babin Yar “took away” the lives of about 100,000 people – Jews, Roma, Ukrainian nationalists, prisoners, psychiatric hospital patients, civilians, and concentration camp inmates. Babin Yar became one of the largest places of mass shootings of civilians committed by the Nazis during the Second World War.

A joint interdenominational prayer was launched in 2021, the 80th anniversary of the tragedy.

This year, a commemoration of the victims of mass shootings in Babi Yar in 1941–1943 will be held with the participation of government representatives, the highest clergy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and spiritual leaders of Jewish religious communities.

We invite you to join regardless of religion. After a joint prayer to honour the memory of shot victims, stones and lamps will be placed at the monuments on the territory of the reserve.

Date: September 29, 2023

Place: “Babyn Yar” nature reserve, next to the “Menorah” monument.

Start at 14:30.

Accreditation of journalists by phone: +38(063)-530-1887
