In Ufa, in the central square of Salavat Yulaev on the morning of January 19, up to two thousand people gathered, according to various estimates. The police detained protesters in support of convicted activist Fail Alsynov and forced them out of the square. Demonstrators tried to block the way for a police bus carrying detainees, but security forces pushed the protesters back.
