On this day 80 years ago, began the deportation of Chechens and Ingush people from their homeland to Central Asia. Approximately one in four of both nations died. Various measures were taken to erase the memory of people: towns and villages were renamed, mosques, cemeteries and books were destroyed, etc.
Today, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must consider a resolution recognizing the right of the Ingush people to self-determination and the creation of an independent sovereign nation-state, and the condemnation of genocide and deportation.
The Anti-imperial Block of Nations calls on people’s deputies to vote and support the Ingush people in their quest for independence.
