Yaroslav Yurchyshyn: Ukraine is a reliable partner that is ready to help enslaved nations on the way to their independence

“The draft law “On the main principles of the state policy of Ukraine regarding interaction with the national movements of the enslaved indigenous nations of the Russian Federation” was agreed upon with the specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada on foreign affairs. We have an important stage ahead of us – convincing the Ukrainian executive bodies and the international community of the need for active action,  said National Deputy of Ukraine Yaroslav Yurchyshyn during the “round table” “Ukraine – Rammstein for the enslaved nations in the struggle for freedom”.  After all, the rights of the state- empires cannot extend beyond the rights of enslaved nations. The world should not be on the side of the enslaver but help the enslaved nations.
As a result of the work of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the project of preparing the main principles of the state policy of Ukraine, it was possible to successfully establish cooperation with the nations’ representatives, who are temporarily under the imperial oppression of Russia: both with their diasporas and with the active part fighting in the republics, subjecting himself to insane danger. Now we are moving to a new level of struggle – geopolitical.
At the initiative of the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the PACE, we prepared several recommendations for the resolution of the situation of Russian aggression regarding the need to activate the international community not only in the liberation of Ukrainian territories and prisoners but also in raising to international level the issue of self-determination of enslaved nations, the decentralization of Russia up to the possibility of recognizing the sovereignty of those or other parts of it, if their societies are ready for it.
If the representatives of these nations are ready for independence, it can become a reality, as it happened with other former subjects of the so-called federation. We can achieve this goal with the support of international partners.
We hope to become a voice for those who, unfortunately, do not currently have one. We plan to hold similar meetings at international venues, an important part of our work as parliamentarians. Our partners, including the US, European and Asian countries, are ready to support us. This also applies to those states where diasporas of people, who suffered from Russia’s actions, live compactly. There is still a lot of work to be done, but we will continue our activities to support the independence and self-determination of our neighbours who are fighting for their independence: some in the ranks of the Defence Forces of Ukraine, some as military or civil resistance in the republics.
