The loss of human dignity begins with the loss of national dignity. When the desire to earn easy money comes first, the problems of one’s own people fade into the background. And if you shift all responsibility for solving political and social issues to the authorities, then the preservation of the Tatar people, their identity, language, history and culture also becomes the concern of “someone up there”. However, in captivity, when you see hundreds of Tatars who cannot read a children’s fairy tale in Tatar, and cannot write a few lines in their native language, you realize the true scale of the tragedy of your people.
