The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is considering the possibility of creating a separate platform for colonised and repressed nations. Much effort has been made to this end by the Ukrainian delegation to PACE and leaders of national liberation movements of enslaved nations.
To establish coordination between representatives of all interested structures and develop a common position, the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations convened a conference on the topic: “The creation of a platform of nations colonised by Russia in PACE and the role of Ukraine in these processes.” The conference was co-organised by the Chechen national movement “United Force,” whose leaders have been methodically working on the issue of the participation of representatives of enslaved nations in the work of PACE for the past several years.
The head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, President of the ABN, Oleh Medunytsya, addressed the conference of participants and noted the importance of obtaining a public platform in Europe to draw attention to the problems of the peoples enslaved by Russia. “The Anti-Imperial Block of Nations,” emphasised Oleh Medunytsya, “is ready to maximally contribute to implementing the idea of creating a separate platform for national liberation movements in one of the oldest and most respected bodies of interparliamentary cooperation.”
The leader of the Chechen national movement “United Force”, a graduate of the University of Free Nations, Dzhambulat Suleymanov, delivered the main report at the conference . He revealed the main achievements and described the problems faced by the participants in the process. According to Dzhambulat Suleymanov, there is a high probability that, with the support of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, it is possible to create a separate platform for the national liberation structures of the enslaved nations in PACE. But there are many obstacles on the way to the implementation of this idea. One of them is the activity of representatives of the so-called “Russian democratic opposition”, with whom, unfortunately, European politicians continue to communicate.
People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to PACE, Maria Mezentseva-Fedorenko, emphasised in her speech that, through joint efforts, PACE managed to adopt several resolutions and decrees condemning the colonial policy of Moscow and opening up opportunities for supporting the national liberation movements of enslaved peoples.
The conference participants agreed to conduct joint preparations for the upcoming PACE sessions, which will consider issues related to the creation of new platforms. As the conference moderator, Executive Director of the ABN Oleh Vitvitskyj noted: “It will be extremely important, although not easy, to defend the right of enslaved peoples to receive separate representation on one of the key European tribunes. This requires maximum coordination and unification of efforts, and, in fact, the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations will continue to be the centre of such coordination.”
