Combat General Ferenc Farkas de Kisbarnak — commander of the VI Army Corps. He believed that Ukraine would be a key pillar of the West in World War III. He was an admirer of the UPA and headed the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Peoples (ABN) created by the Banderites.
In addition, Farkas was the Chief Scout for decades — the leader of the largest youth movement of the Magyars. In 1933, he was also the main organiser of the 4th World Scout Jamboree, held in Hungary, with the participation of General Biden-Powell.
Farkas headed the national military academy. He involved one of his scouts in organising innovative leadership training for future officers. Later, that young man also influenced the transformation of the world’s largest scout organisation — the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).
Previously, scouts concentrated mainly on scouting skills, and under the influence of Farkas’s pupil, the BSA paid more attention to leadership. And accordingly, they changed the programmes for training educators (“Wood Badge”) and the educational programme for youth.
Scouts under Farkas’ leadership maintained close relations with Plast. They participated in Plast events and invited them to their camps, which they held in emigration, preparing for the restoration of the independence of their homeland.
Another pupil of Farkas, who was forced to leave his homeland in 1956, headed world scouting for decades and greatly influenced the development of this movement. Through the creation of 5 regional training centres for leaders (now better known as the regional centres of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement).
Now, Farkas’ thoughts on the Third World War were written in the 1950s. They are still relevant today in literally every thesis. Which only emphasises the general’s military genius but inspires hope that Hungary will become a reliable ally of Ukraine.
“After the Second World War, neither freedom nor peace came. Behind the Iron Curtain, a system of terror reigns, and nations suffer and shed blood.
In my opinion, major political contradictions in the world cannot be eliminated without war. Today, the whole world knows and sees that the day of reckoning with the Bolsheviks cannot be avoided.
In this regard, I must declare that the decisive factor in the coming Third World War will be people who fight for an ideal. Thousands of such people will determine the course of the war if they are not forced to die alone for their beliefs.
Great moral strength will be needed in future wars. Only it can lead to the victory of the main ideals – the liberation of humanity, the protection of religious freedom and human dignity.
Representatives of enslaved nations, in every family of whom someone was killed by the Russians or deported to Siberia, will undoubtedly fight with greater determination than Western soldiers.
Local “Rebel Armies” are able to fight better because they know Russian tactics, training, weapons, terrain and — most importantly — the true mood of the soldiers and nations.
Underground movements, national partisan groups, especially the UPA troops, learned Russian methods from their own experience, fighting for years within the borders of the Soviet states. Today, thousands of UPA soldiers are fighting just as they did in the Carpathians – in the mountains, forests and large cities. They are used to going without meat for months, working all day on a piece of bread.
These UPA soldiers will know in the future how to cut off the Russians from their bases, will be able to start a revolution throughout the country and get reinforcements.
Russia cannot be defeated with atomic bombs alone. The two previous wars against Russia, waged without the participation of local soldiers, ended in a Russian victory.
Today, behind the Iron Curtain, there are hearts to be won, and the strength of the resistance can increase a thousandfold thanks to the support of the West and ensure the victory of Europe.
