Through the joint efforts of human rights activists, lawyers, fellow fighters, ABN structures, and coordinated public pressure, it was possible to protect two activists of the national liberation movements of enslaved nations from extradition to Russia: Alexander Bolokhoev (Buryatia) and Mansur Movlaev (Ichkeria).
Alexander Bolokhoev, co-founder of the Buryatia independence movement “Tusgaar Buryaad-Mongolia,” was previously detained by US immigration police and won his immigration case, being granted political asylum.
Mansur Movlayev, a Chechen journalist and human rights activist, remains in custody in Kazakhstan. Still, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, having heeded appeals from several international organisations (including the UN Human Rights Committee) and conferences, suspended the extradition process.
It is symbolic that both of these events took place on the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine.
Activists of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations in Ukraine, the United States, and Canada have made significant efforts to assist these and other political prisoners of the Putin regime. We will continue our work to protect and release all political prisoners representing the national movements of their nations.
