On 21 September, on the day of Chÿkleme — an ancient Chuvash holiday associated with the harvest and the autumnal equinox of Kanashe — the diplomatic council of Volga Bulgaria-Chuvashia announced the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Chuvashia.
Kanashe representative Ilmar Yankas read the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Chuvash Republic.
Kanashe instructed Honorary Ambassador of Ukraine Oleksandr Yasenchuk to inform state bodies, as well as interested organisations, about the Declaration.
Chernihiv City Council deputy Iryna Solomakha, who was present at the meeting, congratulated the Chuvash people on the restoration of statehood.
