Anti-imperial Block of Nations

  • Changes in RF federal educational standards have led to the minimization or complete removal of native languages from school curricula in most national republics. The implementation of the so-called “voluntary study” of native languages has become a formal cover for the targeted Russification of the younger generation in Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, and the North Caucasus republics.

Human rights defenders report the dismissal of native language teachers and the closure of specialised departments in regional universities. Any attempts by parent committees to defend children’s rights to a full education in their native language are interpreted by security structures as “manifestations of local nationalism” or “extremism.”

International language institutions emphasize that such policies are a direct violation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Preserving and restoring the functioning of native languages in all spheres of public life will be one of the top priorities during the building of independent states in the territory of the current RF.
