Russia as a state will inevitably disintegrate, it’s only a matter of time. This opinion was voiced by Ukrainian writer and poet Oksana Zabuzhko in an interview with LIGA.net.
“You see, it’s a matter of time – it will inevitably fall apart. This is not optimistic, it’s part of the historical process,” she said.
Zabuzhko noted that Russia is already falling apart and has been doing so for a century. The process would have already ended if it had not been “artificially held” within today’s borders. She cited the example of 1917-1918 when the first pieces of the Russian Empire began to “fall off” – Finland, Poland and the Baltic countries separated.
Since then, according to Zabuzhko, “the monster has been dying and growing more decrepit.” In 1991, an excess occurred – Ukraine “fell away,” which the Soviet government did not expect. She also recalled that in 2018, after Russian dictator Vladimir Putin adopted a “language law” that made studying the ethnic languages of other people optional, mass protests took place in Tatarstan and Ufa. However, Western journalists did not cover this event very actively.
According to the writer, Ukraine has no right to miss such events and should have worked with the so-called “union of free nations” of the Russian Federation back then.
“The collapse of Russia is irreversible for a very simple reason. An empire of this type, an archaic empire of this type, is an ecologically inadequate economy for humanity in the 21st century. That’s it, period… It may collapse in 2030, or, if everyone continues to stare at the ceiling, pick their ears and pretend that it doesn’t concern them, in 2045,” Zabuzhko emphasized, adding that there is a big difference in this from the point of view of human life.
