Anti-imperial Block of Nations

Representatives of free and subjugated European nations met in Munich during the weekend of June 30 – July 2, 1967, and resolved to establish the European Freedom Council (EFC), a coordinating body for organizations fighting Communism. The Conference elected an executive board with the president— Mr. Ole Bjorn Kraft, chairman Mr. Ivan Matteo Lombardo, and Mr. Theodor Oberländer was elected a member of the board.

Mr. Kraft was a former Foreign Minister of Denmark, former Vice-President of the European Council and member of the Danish Parliament.

Former Minister Mr. Lombardo was the former Minister of Foreign Trade of Italy and former General-Secretary of the Italian Socialist Party, and Vice-President of the Atlantic Treaty Association. At an Interdoc (International Documentation and Information Centre, The Hague) conference in Noordwijk aan Zee, Netherlands, in March 1968 he spoke on the subject of  ”The Armed Forces in the Psychopolitical East West Confrontation”. Speaking about ”The Relevant Situation in Italy” he pointed out under the rubric ”The psychopolitical impact of Soviet military power”: ”It is worth remembering at this point a statement by Soviet General Svetchin of the Military Academy of Moscow when elaborating upon Lenin’s commentaries on Clausewitz’s aphorisms: ”The Red Army’s task is one of shaking a tree bearing fruits already rotten.” Interdoc was a state-private network to project a world view in civil society in support of Western interests (freedom, democracy, anti-communism).

Mr. Oberländer was a member of the Christian Democratic Party of West Germany and a former member of the German Federal Government with special responsibilities for refugee matters.

A special Information Committee was formed in Munich in 1967 with a chairman and members.

The main aim of the European Freedom Council until 1991, was to coordinate and intensify anti-Communist activity in Europe and to give support to the cause of the subjugated nations in the Soviet Russian empire.
