An exhibition challenging the empire took place in Chernihiv, “Putin’s Real Prisoners. Political Prisoners of the Enslaved Nations.” This is not just an exhibition, but an international human rights project of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations (ABN), which has already visited 20 countries around the world. Why the name “real”?
The organisers, Viktor Roh, editor-in-chief of the OUN weekly “The Path of Victory,” and Oleh Vitvitskyj, executive director of the Anti-Imperial Block of Nations, explain that the West often focuses only on the Russian opposition, leaving out those who are the key to the collapse of the Kremlin.
We are talking about the leaders of such peoples as Chechens, Tatars, Yakuts, nations who are fighting for their own independence. This is not just a humanitarian initiative. This is a strategy. By analogy with the Ukrainian dissidents of the USSR era, who later led the independence movement, the ABN believes that these political prisoners will become leaders who will lead to the decolonisation and collapse of the Moscow empire. Ukraine is not only fighting on the front, but is also preparing a bill to support national liberation movements, making this struggle part of state policy. After all, as the organisers say, the real victory of Ukraine is not only reaching the borders of 1991, but also punishing the aggressor and its complete collapse.
