This is a film about how the System of Terror works: what happens to a person after kidnapping, what they have to go through, and whether there is a chance of getting out. Beatings, torture, complete isolation from the world, lack of contact with family and lawyers, years spent in basements and prisons without trial or investigation — or show trials on fabricated charges of “terrorism” and “espionage.”
This System is not new. Its roots go back to the Soviet past, it was formed during the wars in Chechnya, and is now being implemented in Ukraine. It is a carefully constructed machine of suppression that exists in parallel with the official justice system and outside the law. It is impossible to name the exact number of civilian prisoners. According to human rights activists, today there are from 7 to 30 thousand civilian prisoners in Russian captivity. The film was created by the team of the media project “Activity” to give a voice to those who have been deprived of their freedom and the opportunity to be heard.
To prevent such terrible deaths as in the cases of Victoria Roshchina and Tatyana Plachkova. And to try to find the answer to the main question: how to escape from this System?
