Georgian fighter Tengiz Chania, who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), died during a rocket attack,  reports the Mtavari TV channel.

Chaniya was listed in the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, created based on the Azov battalion. He fought in the Avdeevka-Maryinka direction.

He was killed on 22 March. Until now, the body of the deceased could not be removed from the battlefield.

Chania is a refugee from Abkhazia, a participant in the war in Abkhazia and the August 2008 war. In the past, he was a member of the intelligence department of the Georgian Ministry of Defense and the special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

He fought in Ukraine from the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and was wounded twice during this period, but after recovery, he returned to the front line.

Since February 2022, 62 Georgian fighters have been killed in Ukraine – citizens of Georgia and natives of Georgia with Ukrainian citizenship, the Novosti-Georgia agency reports.
