General Oleksandr Lapin was jokingly thanked for replenishing the exchange fund. He is known in the Russian army for his failures.
A whole company of Russian soldiers voluntarily surrendered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as prisoners in the Kursk region. This was reported by the press service of the “I Want to Live” project on 15 August.
It is noted that the soldiers surrendered on 14 August. This decision was made by more than 100 Russians who their commanders left behind.
“You can understand them, it is difficult to conduct military operations when autocrats and embezzlers command you, and the flanks are “covered” by Kadyrov bandits who abandon everyone and everything in order not to be captured themselves,” the press service emphasized.
She also jokingly thanked the Russian commander of the Pivnich group, Oleksandr Lapin.
“Well, I thank General Lapin, who is helping us to successfully advance in the Kursk region, as well as in 2022 in the Kharkiv region, the defence of which he was responsible for,” the post reads.
The mass media previously reported that Lieutenant General Lapin was considered to be responsible for the failure of the defence of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. He generally has an ambiguous reputation, because it is not the first time that he has failed an operation and systematically loses battles.
In particular, it was Lapin who commanded the defence of the Russian Armed Forces, which in 2022 was powerfully broken by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near Balaklia, Lyman, and Izyum.
It will be recalled that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that on the morning of 14 August, the Armed Forces captured more than 100 Russian soldiers. Details were not disclosed.
On 15 August, the head of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ivan Tymochko, said that for the first time during the full-scale war, Russia itself turned to Ukraine regarding the exchange of prisoners.
