In Ukraine, which is at war with the Russian occupiers, the beginning of the creation of the “Armenian Legion” has been laid. The official banner of this military formation will be the flag of the Kingdom of Ani (it also acts as an informal symbol of the Armenian community in Ukraine), Dialog.UA reports .
The solemn event dedicated to the creation of the “Armenian Legion” was attended by the first ambassador of Ukraine to Armenia Alexander Bozhko. In addition, – the politician Dmytro Korchynskyj, who headed the UNSO in the 1990s, then hosted various political television programs, and now is the head of the Christian movement and the military battalion “Brotherhood”, also appeared here. It should be noted that a rather large Armenian diaspora has been living in Ukraine for many years. Its number increased noticeably in the late 80s – early 90s of the last century, when hostilities began between Armenia and Azerbaijan for Nagorno-Karabakh and a large flow of refugees from both countries rushed over here. Over the years of living in Ukraine, the Armenians have assimilated quite well here, so it is doubly pleasant to see them in military uniform and ready to fight together with the Ukrainians against the occupiers from the Russian Federation.
Recall that the Armenian leader Nikol Pashinyan, in a conversation with foreign journalists, said that the Armenian side is not an ally of Russia in the war with Ukraine.
Prior to this, it was reported that Russia launched trade wars against Armenia after the republic announced its participation in NATO Defender-23 military exercises. As previously reported, Armenian activists picketed the Russian military base in Gyumri.
