The leadership of Estonia – the president, prime minister, and foreign minister – responded to the Russian missile attack on Sumy, which killed 32 people on 13 April.
Alar Karis, Kristen Michal, and Margus Tsahkna published their reactions on the social network X, the “European Truth” wrote.
In particular, President Alar Karis called the Russian attack cruel and expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims. “We strongly support Ukraine’s right to self-defence,” he wrote.
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal called for recognition that “Russia’s goal is to wipe Ukraine off the face of the earth.” According to him, another brutal attack against innocent civilians is proof of that.
“Our assistance to Ukraine cannot be postponed at the most crucial moment. Without pressure on Russia, there will be no peace,” Michal is convinced.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna wrote that “there are not enough words in the world to describe the inhumanity and evil of Russia.”
“Our hearts are with Ukraine. Sincere condolences to all victims of the terrorist attack in Sumy,” the head of Estonian diplomacy noted.
A Russian missile strike on the centre of Sumy on the morning of 13 April killed 32 people, including two children. The number of injured has risen to 99, including 11 children.
