Russia has no chance of winning the arms race in the EU, provided that European countries succeed in implementing their plans to increase their armaments.
As reported by the correspondent of “European Pravda”, such a statement was made by the head of the Estonian foreign intelligence service, Kaupo Rozin, during the 21st Annual Meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES).
“Russian military potential has already reached its maximum, and further increasing military production will be a very difficult task for them. That is why, if Europe acts correctly, we will be able to catch up with them quite quickly,” he believes.
Kaupo Rosin notes that the prospect of a full-fledged arms race with the West “causes concern in Russia, because they know very well that they will lose in it.”
“That is why they (the Russians) are developing information operations, talking about Europe, which is supposedly inciting war, trying to influence Europeans to oppose rearmament,” the head of Estonian intelligence claims.
“That is why it will be difficult for us to maintain existing support for rearmament programs,” he adds.
As reported, a total of 19 member states will receive loans for defence projects under the European Commission’s SAFE programme, among which Poland will receive the largest amount.
Poland is to receive the largest amount of funds under the SAFE mechanism – 43.7 billion euros, or almost a third of the total amount of 150 billion euros.
