This is a film about civilian Ukrainian prisoners who were captured by Russian security forces in the occupied territories. Anything can be the reason – from a photo of Russian equipment or a Ukrainian flag on the phone to a conversation in Ukrainian. According to Ukrainian human rights activists, there are currently at least 7,000 civilian Ukrainian prisoners in Russian prisons, which is five times more than all recognized political prisoners in Russia. Nobody knows how many thousands of civilian Ukrainian prisoners remain in torture prisons in the occupied territories.
Usually, such people disappear after detention, and even close relatives do not know their fate for years. Sometimes they appear in Russian propaganda stories – broken, with signs of torture, forced to admit the most ridiculous accusations. But the truth eventually comes to light, and it is shocking.
The first episode of the film is based on three stories told by relatives of Ukrainian civilian prisoners: a mother whose son was taken away by the FSB, a wife whose husband was taken away, and a young girl left without both parents by the Russian occupation.
