In memory of Jaromir Szczetina

Tragic news from the Czech Republic. Jaromir Szczetina, a journalist, politician and member of the European Parliament, has died.

In 2015, he was added to the list of European politicians banned from entering the territory of the Russian Federation due to his support for Ukraine. In 2016, Szczetina was one of three members of the European Parliament who visited Maryinka near Donetsk.

Jaromir Szczetina worked, like Petra Prochazkova, as a correspondent in the Chechen Republic during the Russian-Chechen war.

Petra Prochazkova introduced me to Mr. Jaromir.

In 2023,  Anna Fotyga participated in a discussion at the International Forum in Poland, which I moderated.

The discussion was called “The Disintegration of the Russian Federation.” Hanna Fotyga advised inviting Jaromir Szczetina to this discussion.

Of course, he would be happy to participate, he called the Russian Federation the Evil Empire.

But he was already very sick.

So that you understand how attentive Mr. Jaromir was. Seeing signs on my page that I support Ichkeria, he wrote to me:

“Inna, greetings from Prague. Jaromir, Dudayev’s friend.”
