In Vladikavkaz, Svetlana Kotsoeva, a teacher of junior classes at an Orthodox grammar school, was fired because of a yellow skirt and blue blouse during the assembly. This was reported by Archdeacon Andrei Kuraev. A source confirmed the information about Kotsoeva’s dismissal to Kavkaz.Realii.
According to Kuraev, the decision to fire Kotsoeva was made by the Archbishop of Vladikavkaz and Alania Gerasim, who took part in the assembly. The source told the publication that after the assembly, the director of the grammar school said that the teacher “will have to write a statement” since they are “under the jurisdiction of the diocese.”
The teacher’s colleagues came to her defence. They attended Archbishop Gerasim’s service at the Church of St. Prince Vladimir on 8 September and met with him. However, the next day the secretary of the diocese informed Kotsoeva of the need to find a new position, after which the teacher wrote a letter of resignation of her own free will.
Svetlana Kotsoeva worked at the Alexei Koliev Orthodox Grammar School for 12 years.
It is not the first time that Russia has complained about yellow and blue colours, seeing this as support for Ukraine. In Yugra, a school principal wrote a denunciation of a student with yellow and blue ribbons in her hair. Later, the police established that the ribbons were not yellow, but light green, therefore, there was no crime. In Vologda, a denunciation was written against journalist Antonida Smolina because of a photo in a yellow down jacket against a blue sky.
