Another participant in the protests, according to unconfirmed reports, was found dead. Sent to a pre-trial detention centre, accused of “mass riots” (Part 2 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code) at a rally in Baymak, Bashkir protester Dim Davletkildin was hospitalized from the detention centre with a spinal fracture,  his relatives reported with link to medical documents.

Relatives claim that Davletkildin was beaten by security forces to extract the necessary testimony. The protester is currently in a Ufa hospital.

On January 23, security forces did not allow Davletkildin’s lawyer Garifulla Yapparov into the pre-trial detention centre to see his client under the pretext that he allegedly tried to smuggle a phone into the detention centre, said the lawyer.

Davletkildin’s apartment was searched on January 19 in his absence. Within four days he found himself in a pre-trial detention centre.

Another protest participant, Rifat Dautov, disappeared after being detained, writes  RusNews. Later, his family was invited to the morgue to identify the body, since Dautov was allegedly found dead “with signs of severe alcohol intoxication and cardiac arrest,” but the activist’s sister was not allowed into the morgue.

Former Bashkir Satellite Television news anchor and activist Tagir Vakhitov claims that Dautov died in a paddy wagon on the way to Ufa.

As Dautova’s sister Zalia told “Important Histories”, on January 25, her brother went with his girlfriend to her parents in the Zianchurinsky district of Bashkortostan, at about 11 p.m. on the same day, riot police officers detained him while walking with his girlfriend and pushed him into a paddy wagon. The VChK-OGPU Telegram channel writes that Dautov was wanted in the case of “mass riots” and was detained in a state of intoxication, and he died in a paddy wagon, from a previous poisoning with surrogate alcohol. Dautov’s sister Zalia says that Rifat was not drunk during his arrest and there are witnesses to this.

After protests in support of activist Fail Alsynov in the Bashkir Baymak, 122 administrative cases were received by the courts, 118 protocols were processed,  writes  OVD-info. At least 16 people became involved in criminal cases of riots and violence against the police. On January 25, a court in Ufa sent five more people to a pre-trial detention centre in connection with the Baymak case.

On January 26, the head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov,  held a large rally in support of himself at the site of the protests in Ufa. According to local sources, state employees were forcibly driven there. At the rally, Khabirov said that he was ready to extend the “hand of friendship” to those who disagree with his policies.
