During the event, the English-language edition of the book “Involuntary Union: A History of the Liberation Struggle of the Nations Enslaved by Russia” will be presented. This work tells about the centuries-old history of the liberation struggle of the peoples enslaved by Russia, none of whom sought to voluntarily become part of the empire. Each of them used even the slightest opportunity to fight for independence and freedom from their oppressor and coloniser. The book shows how these nations, despite unsuccessful attempts in the 20th century, continue to fight for freedom and identity, resisting Russian imperialism. Among the authors are well-known researchers and leaders of national liberation movements.
