Historian Damir Iskhakov believes that Tatarstan identity is being liquidated under pressure from Moscow. This, he said, is a reflection of Russia’s imperial policy. In an interview with Radio Azatlyk, he also spoke about the implementation of ethnologist Valery Tishkov’s idea of building a “Russian nation” and the disappearance of the last remnants of federalism.
