On 10 October 2023, in Belarus, security forces detained Zorina Kanapatskaya, candidate of historical sciences, senior researcher at the Institute of History, associate professor, and author of more than 100 academic works.
Zorina Kanapatskaya is the daughter of Ibrahim Kanapatsky, one of the leaders of the Tatar diaspora of Belarus. Among her scientific activities were also Islam in Belarus and the history, culture and religion of the Belarusian Tatars. Zorina Kanapatskaya’s only fault is that she subscribed to “extremist” channels and became familiar with their content.
More than 3 years later, the protests, detentions and trials continue in Belarus both for the events of 2020 and for fabricated cases: the transfer of Pavel Sevyarynets to a prison term, mass detentions in Gomel, the detention of a professor, a candidate of pedagogical sciences Igor Sharukho and many others political prisoners. On the night of 11 July, artist and political prisoner Ales Pushkin, who was serving a five-year sentence in a colony, died in intensive care under unclear circumstances. This is not the first death of a political prisoner in Belarus.
All arrests and detentions in Belarus are absolutely politically motivated.
Lukashenko’s repressive regime is based only on increased control, arrests, intimidation and totalitarianism. The main supporter of the Lukashenko regime is Putin and the Moscow Kremlin. We, the nation enslaved by Muscovy, have one enemy with the Belarusians and Ukrainians – the terrorist country Russia.
The victory of Ukraine and the decolonization of Russia is your and our freedom, dear Belarusians. Long live Belarus! We believe we can overcome it!
