Aida Abdrakhamova, a member of the League of Free Nations, and vice-premier of the independent government of Tatarstan in exile, Aida Abdrakhamova, commented on how strong the desire of the non-Russian nations of Russia is to be freed from imperial oppression.
The recent events in Bashkortostan, of course, shook the entire Idel-Ural. I would even say that all the national republics in Russia and regional movements. What is happening there? This is the desperate struggle of the Bashkir people for the restoration of justice and the desire to defend one of the active defenders of the rights of the Bashkir people and nature in particular. But we see again that the judicial system of Russia has shown its pro-authority and complete groundlessness.
In the specific case of File Alsynov, who was sentenced in advance – just for the fact that people dared to go to the rally in support of their fellow countryman, the judge sentenced him to an even harsher punishment than the accuser requested. But thousands of people who stood up for justice were denied even a normal dialogue with a representative of the authorities.
It is possible to stop this terror against the population only by creating its own democratic legal state, free from imperial Moscow. But remaining in the so-called Russian Federation, nations will not be able to preserve themselves as ethnic groups, will not be able to preserve nature, and will not be able to protect their rights. Well, after assimilation, of course, one can only expect the complete disappearance of all non-Russian nations. The situation is the same in all national republics. There are no differences here, as an exception, one might say.
To what extent is there an internal resistance movement of non-Russian nations in Russia now?
We have supporters of independence there, there are activists. But at the moment they have no opportunity to act. I believe that the situation should be ripe both internally and externally for some actions. Everything should match. At the moment, I do not think that the internal situation is sufficiently developed and matured for all the republics and all the activists to come out and carry out the decolonization of the Russian Federation, which is what we all strive for, that is, the collapse of Russia.
