The prosecutor’s office requested such a term for Vladlen Menshikov, human rights activist Daria Belova said.
Menshikov was detained in September 2022. According to investigators, he tried to carry out sabotage in the Sverdlovsk region. Vladlen allegedly installed jumpers on the railway tracks along which trains with Russian armoured vehicles run to derail them, and also allegedly painted a stele at the entrance to Rezh with swastikas. Later, the article about sabotage, for which the Ural resident was initially detained, disappeared from the case file on the court’s website, as noted (https://t.me/ve4ved/72667) “Evening Vedomosti”. Now he is being persecuted for calls for terrorism and cooperation with Ukraine – security forces believe that he received assignments from the Russian Freedom Legion.
In June 2023, he was added to the list of “terrorists and extremists.”
The verdict against Vladlen Menshikov will be announced on April 15.
