Propagandists from the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti published a column claiming that “Russia is facing another SVO” (war – ed.) in Lithuania, but it was later deleted.

Verbatim: “The state news agency RIA Novosti published a column titled ‘Russia faces another nuclear strike. It will be very short,’ in which it threatened Lithuania with a nuclear strike.”
Details: The text was written by the agency’s freelance writer, Alexander Nosovich, after the Lithuanian Seimas supported the ban removal on the deployment of nuclear weapons from the constitution.
It is reported that Nosovich’s column was removed a few hours later, with the argument that it allegedly “did not correspond with the editorial board’s opinion, editorial policy, or state policy of the Russian Federation.”
A copy of the article was preserved in a web archive. In the deleted text, Nosovich called Lithuania “a suicidal country with no brains at all” and “a small but proud kamikaze in Russia’s neighbouring country” and also threatened Lithuania with invasion and a nuclear strike.
“The solution isn’t just quick, it’s lightning-fast. Don’t be fooled by the seconds,” the column says.
Meduza notes that Nosovich is a member of the non-governmental organisation “Council on Foreign and Defence Policy” and the editor-in-chief of the pro-Russian publication RuBaltic.Ru, based in Kaliningrad.
In 2020, the Dossier Investigative Centre linked Nosovich to an influence structure overseen by members of the Putin administration and the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.
