Anti-imperial Block of Nations

Ilan Shor:
“Today, on the Independence Day of the country (27 August, Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova – author), I declare that I will ensure that Moldova again becomes part of a great and powerful country, that we will not be a puppet in the hands of lousy Europeans, but a strong people within a strong, powerful country.”

These are not just words. This is a frank manifesto of betrayal.

If Shor had not been in constant contact with Russian politicians…
If he had not poured millions into information projects in Moldova…
If he had not built electoral networks, organised protests on the orders of the Kremlin, bought parties and politicians…
Then he could be written off as cheap PR.
But all these “ifs” are reality.
And therefore, his statements are not empty talk, but a real threat to the national security of Moldova.
There is only one way to stop this threat: not to allow those forces that are directly or indirectly connected to Shor and the Kremlin to win the elections on 28 September.
There is no doubt: Shor says out loud what the Kremlin thinks about itself.
There is no doubt: he voices not only Moscow’s desires, but also its plans if Kremlin puppets come to power.
And that is why his words should be a wake-up call for everyone who wants to see Moldova independent and European, and not turned into another province of the “great and powerful repressive machine.”

* Ilan Shor is a Moldovan politician and businessman, originally from Israel.
Born: 6 March 1987, Tel Aviv, Israel.
Married to singer Jasmine (Sarah Shor).
Citizenship: Moldovan and Israeli.
Business: associated with the duty-free network at Moldovan airports, as well as with the football club “Milsami” (Orhei).
Politics: leader of the pro-Russian party “Șor”, which opposes European integration and maintains close ties with Moscow.

Ilan Shor is known as a key figure in the so-called “theft of a billion” from Moldovan banks (2014), when more than $1 billion disappeared from the Moldovan banking system. In 2017, he was sentenced by a Moldovan court to seven and a half years in prison, but fled the country. In 2023, the Chisinau Appeals Chamber increased the sentence to 15 years with confiscation of property. He is wanted by Interpol, lives mainly in Israel and Russia.

Political activities:
Ilona Shor’s party actively organised mass protests against the pro-Western government of Moldova. In 2023, the Constitutional Court of Moldova banned the “Șor” party as a threat to state security.
Despite the criminal cases, it remains media active and influential among a part of the Moldovan electorate.
The authorities and Western partners (the US, EU, UK) imposed sanctions against him for corruption and ties to Russia.
