Anti-imperial Block of Nations

This is a series of official documents and speeches related to the annual mass rallies in support of Captive Nations Week, held in Taipei from the 1960s to the 1980s. The event was organised by the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in conjunction with anti-communist organisations, primarily the World Anti-Communist League (WACL) and the Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations (ABN).

The set of such documents usually included:

  • Address by the President of the Republic of China;
  • Prime Minister’s speeches;
  • declarations of a mass rally;
  • an appeal to the President of the United States;
  • appeal to the UN Secretary General;
  • resolutions in support of peoples ruled by communist regimes.

Ukraine occupied a special place in these documents. It was regularly mentioned among the “enslaved nations” along with Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Georgia, Armenia, Turkestan, Tibet, and others. The concept was based on the American law on Captive Nations Week, passed in 1959.

This typescript of materials was discovered in the Archives of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists, which is located at the Ukrainian Information Service-London.
