About the internal problems of Russia – from the history of Moscow’s practices of enslaving peoples, inciting them against each other, recruiting national elites to the service of Russia, to the problems of today, were discussed in the studio of the PARAGRAPH program by an expert of the Analytical Center “Ukrainian Studies of Strategic Studies”, candidate of political sciences Yuriy Oliynyk and historian, candidate of political sciences Andrii Kovalev.
The participants of the program noted that during the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia could also collapse, because Ichkeria, led by Dudayev, declared its right to have an independent state during the first and second Chechen wars. Russia never managed to defeat Chechnya, it bought the local elite through peace agreements.
As Yurii Oliynyk noted, “Russia was weak during Yeltsin’s time – there were minimum oil prices, the decline of the economy, centrifugal movements in Tatarstan, Ural separatism, the first Chechen war almost destroyed Russia.
This was a mistake of the West, because the Western powers did not want the complete disintegration of Russia, they wanted full control over nuclear weapons to remain with one subject. Then, thanks to Western loans, Russia was able to suppress centrifugal movements.
Russia has long tried to sow enmity between different peoples: the Kubans fight with the Adygeans and Chechens, there is today’s enmity between Tatars and Bashkirs. And, actually, the Karabakh conflict was artificially constructed by Russia in the 19th century
In the program about why the Caucasus and Yakutia are most fragile, why the Kremlin accelerates the death of its citizens through the formation of national battalions, the Buryats are the enslaved people of the north in the service of Moscow
And, of course, about the vision that Ukraine should convey to the enslaved peoples and the Russians themselves – that they are an artificial community of assimilated ethnic groups that have distinct interests in various regions, in particular, Siberia, the Far East, and the north of the Russian Federation. Also about the Green Wedge and Ukrainians in the Far East.
