Law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan warned their fellow citizens about criminal liability for participation in hostilities on the territory of other states.
In Kyrgyzstan, a man who fought in Ukraine on the side of Russia was sentenced to ten years in prison for mercenarism. The court found that the convict joined the armed formations of the “LPR” in June 2022 in order to subsequently obtain Russian citizenship. After that, Russian State Duma deputy Mironov called criminal liability in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan for participating in the war in Ukraine “absurd”. “If a Russian with citizenship of these countries decides to help his historical homeland and go to the NVO, he will be sent to prison. This is absurd! We propose to resolve this issue at the interstate level,” Mironov wrote in an appeal on his personal Twitter account.
Bekeshev, a member of the Kyrgyz parliament, answered him: “The Eurasian Economic Union is not a military union and we are not obliged to encourage citizens to participate in any war”.
As it became known, the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan is investigating ten criminal cases on the facts of the participation of citizens of the republic in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. According to the laws of the republic, the participation of Kazakhs in foreign wars “is illegal.”
Also, the Uzbek public informs that a cemetery of Wagner PMC was found near Moscow. Those who fought in its composition and died in Ukraine are buried there, including several people from the countries of Central Asia. Among them there are several Uzbeks whose identity has been established.
