Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili issued a decree pardoning the general director of the opposition TV channel “Mtavari Arkhi” Nika Gvaramiya. As Zurabishvili explained, she made the decision to pardon Gvaramia after all legal steps were exhausted, when the Supreme Court of Georgia did not accept his lawsuit for consideration.
Authoritative human rights organizations and opposition politicians regard Gvaramiya’s case as politically motivated. In Georgia, the “Movement for the release of Nika Gvaramiya” was created, which regularly held protest actions around the world. Representatives of Ukrainian public associations in the diaspora joined these actions as a sign of solidarity. They called on all peoples to unite in the struggle for the release of political prisoners, the de-occupation of territories captured by russia and the complete collapse of the moscow empire.
