“Alyte!” is one of many songs written by the Forest Brothers. These were partisans in the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia) who fought against the Soviets, who annexed these countries in 1940. The Lithuanian partisan movement (whose members, however, did not call themselves “Forest Brothers”) was the largest in the Baltics, numbering approximately 100,000 people. The performer and lyricist are unknown.
