Statement of the Bashkir national movement abroad

We, the Executive Committee of the Bashkir National Movement Abroad, declare that the public meetings currently taking place in Bashkortostan were not organized by us. These are the pure expressions of the nation’s will. However, we express our full support for the activists and all participants and are ready to assist. According to international laws, every person has the right to participate in peaceful assemblies, to freely express their opinion, and to be involved in the social and political life of their country. Discrimination based on views, statements, or nationality is unacceptable. We will bring any human rights violations, especially outrageous cases such as the beating of peaceful, unarmed protesters, the deployment of the army, and the involvement of security forces from other regions in Bashkortostan, to the attention of the international community and organizations. We remind them that in cases where violence is used against peacefully assembled protesters, they have the right to defend themselves. We express our respect and admiration for the people of Bashkortostan. We call on all Bashkirs and nations of Russia, regardless of their ethnicity, to support the people in their quest for justice
