A new history textbook as the ideology of the Russian government

Starting this week, Russian high school students began studying using a new unified history textbook, the creation of which was supervised by Advisor to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinsky. Why did you need to make changes? How does a school textbook reflect the views of the Russian government on itself and its role in the history of the country? What’s wrong with imperialism?
