In Kamchatka, the arrival of the Russians in the late 17th century led to bloody colonization, genocide of the local people, and dramatic changes in both cultural and ecological terms. Robbery and violence, epidemics and population decline, damage to the nature of the area, the barbaric destruction of the people and their way of life – these events left a deep mark on the history of the region, and the consequences of these processes are felt to this day.
